Here’s a healthy alternative to French fries that you should try
Do you miss eating fries in a large serving? Well, that craving has to wait as there is a global shortage of chipping potatoes, which fast-food chains and restaurants use to make French fries and potato chips.
This crisis was confirmed by Department of Agriculture – National Capital Region Director U-Nichols Manalo on "Unang Hirit" Thursday.
"'Yung global supply po kasi ng chipping potatoes is affected by fuel and even logistic problems so ngayon po talaga may kanipisan ang supply," he said.
To those craving the filling snack, give kamote fries a try!
Not only are sweet potatoes healthier than potatoes due to its high Vitamin A content, but it is also more accessible and affordable in the Philippines.
On the "This is Eat" segment of "Unang Hirit," "Eat Girl" Love Anover went to 7 Days Cafe, which sold kamote fries as part of its regular menu.
According to 7 Days Cafe owner Moira Benosa, she has seen an increased demand for kamote fries because of the shortage in potato supply.
"Mas healthy at may sweet taste siya kaya mas nagugustuhan ng mga bata," she said.
