Giant banana as big as half an arm grows in Asingan, Pangasinan
A giant banana as big as half an arm grew in Asingan, Pangasinan after a family planted a seedling they received.
In an interview with JP Soriano on "24 Oras Weekend," Winnie Tarangco, who owns the tree, said she and her family were shocked after they saw the giant banana.
["Of course we were shocked. Anyone who sees a banana as big as my grandchild who is turning five months old will be shocked. That's why I said this banana is so big and long."]
Winnie said it took them one whole week before they were able to finish the whole banana.
Winnie said the taste of the giant banana was different compared to the regular-sized ones that grow in their area.
Siya wala," she said.
["The giant banana is sweet. It is not the usual banana with the banana flower you see in the country."]
According to the municipal agriculturist in Asingan, the banana is a type of giant plantain which rarely grows but when it does it produces a big fruit.
