Lechon festival in Talisay, Cebu to start on Friday
The lechon festival in Talisay City, Cebu is starting on Friday!
According to the report of GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak's Fe Dumabok on "24 Oras," Thursday, the festival is part of Talisay's celebration of the feast day of St. Teresa De Avila.
One of the Filipino classic favorites, the lechon will be displayed outside the Barangay Poblacion Church.
Due to the pandemic, all the lechon will be available only for takeout to prevent crowding.
Poblacion's barangay captain Edward Alesna said they have also prohibited vendors from outside their area as part of their safety protocols against COVID-19.
"Ipinagbabawal natin ang pagtanggap ng mga magtitinda tuwing pista. 'Yung mga galing sa Carcar o sa mga ibang barangay, wala. Ang mga lokal na tindahan ang mga nandito," he said in Cebuano.
["We don't accept vendors during the festival. Those coming from Carcar or other barangays, none. Only the local vendors are here."]
Only religious events will be held for this year's celebration. Based on the health guidelines, the church will allow only 50% of its capacity to attend mass.
To allow everyone to participate in the 185th anniversary of the feast, Alesna said a caravan featuring St. Teresa De Avila's image will also go around town.
The Talisay police tapped the city's barangay tanod to help ensure the safety among residents during the nine-day novena.
