How to make creamy Sinigang na Hipon with Gata

Sinigang na Hipon is a tasty dish to eat on a rainy day, but why not add a twist and make it creamy by adding gata?

Chef Jose Sarasola just shared an easy recipe for Sinigang na Hipon sa Gata on Tuesday's "Unang Hirit," and you'll only need a few ingredients.

Prepare the following:

  • Shrimp
  • Onion
  • Tomato
  • Sampaloc or sinigang mix
  • Gata
  • Kang Kong
  • Eggplant
  • Siling haba
  • Radish
  • String beans
  • Okra
  • Salt
  • Pepper

To make the broth,  start by bringing some water to a boil then adding sliced tomatoes, onions and a shrimp cube to add to the flavor. Follow it up by adding some pepper, sinigang mix, gata and two siling haba.

Let that boil, then add your radish and eggplant. Next, toss in your shrimp and let it boil some more to let them soak up all the flavor. After a while, add your string beans and okra.

After letting it boil for several minutes more, add your kang kong then taste the soup if you need to add some last-minute seasoning.

And, finally, your Sinigang na Hipon with Gata is ready to serve! —Margaret Claire Layug/JCB, GMA News
