Here's a tasty recipe for monggo guisado with sotanghon

A bowl of monggo sounds like a perfect rainy day meal, doesn't it?

Chef Jose Sarasola shared a super easy recipe on GMA-7's "Unang Hirit," only instead of eating it with rice, he cooked it with some filling sotanghon noodles.

To make this dish, prepare the following ingredients:

  • Shrimp
  • Monggo seeds
  • Sotanghon noodles
  • Spinach
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Tomato
  • Patis
  • Salt

Chef Jose prepared his monggo seeds in advance by letting them sit in water for an hour.

He also let the sotanghon noodles in hot water for at least 2-3 minutes.

Once you've done all these, take a pan and sautee your onions, garlic and tomatoes.

Lightly crush the tomatoes to let the juices out, then add patis.

Add your shrimp, and once they cook, pour in your monggo.

Let this boil for at least 5 minutes, then add your sotanghon noodles.

Let the noodles boil until the monggo soaks in all the flavors, then add your malunggay.

Make sure to taste your dish before serving if it needs some additional salt or seasoning.

Happy Friday, Kapuso! —Margaret Claire Layug/JCB, GMA News
