Gladys Guevarra sells palitaw in different flavors amid lockdown
Gladys Guevarra has joined the long list of celebrities turning to online business amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
According to Cata Tibayan's report on "24 Oras," the comedian also known as "Chuchay" is now making and selling local snack "palitaw" in different flavors.
She buys the ingredients herself from the market and does not mind being recognized by other people, some of whom were surprised to learn what she is doing.
"Ako na lang din nagbibiro. 'Eto naman, bakit ano ba kailangan, ano ba criteria para mag-tinda?' sabi ko sa kanya. 'Kailangan ba hindi artista?'" she narrated.

Chuchay said she studied culinary arts before but she was not able to graduate. With nothing else to do amid the lockdown, however, she began experimenting in the kitchen.
It was also a good hobby for her, because she was starting to have panic attacks, anxiety, and depression due to the pandemic. With the closure of comedy bars Klownz and Zirkoh, it was difficult not to worry about her future.
Now, she is proud to be known as "Palitaw Queen" and encourages others who want to earn extra income to start small and take it from there.
