Kara David's 'Kangkong Gising-Gising' is perfect for sinigang lovers
If you're like Kara David who had some leftover kangkong lying around after cooking sinigang for your family, don't throw them away!
In her online show "ECQusina," the "Pinas Sarap" host used leftover kangkong stalks and leaves to make her own version to make gising-gising, which is a spicy Filipino dish with ground pork and coconut milk.
To make this, you'll need the following ingredients:
- Chopped kangkong
- Ground pork
- Tinapa
- Siling pangsigang
- Onion
- Garlic
- Coconut milk
- Ginger
- Patis
The first thing you need to do is chop up your kangkong, ginger, garlic, and onion.
Kara cut her kangkong stalks into little half-inch pieces, and thoroughly prepared her tinapa by removing the head, bone and scales.
Take a large pan and sautee the onions, garlic and ginger in some oil. Then you add your ground pork, together with the rest of your ingredients.
Let it all boil until the coconut milk turns thick and creamy, then it's time to add your kangkong and some last-minute seasoning.
It's important for the kangkong go last to add some crunch to your Gising-Gising.
The pork and kangkong infused with a slightly-spicy taste with gata would go deliciously with rice.
