Chef Jose Sarasola awakens your tastebuds with pork sinigang with bagoong

There are many ways to make sinigang sour and delicious.

In a live cook-off on "Unang Hirit," Chef Jose Sarasola and host Love Añover made their own versions using unlikely ingredients: Chef Jose added a tasty twist to his pork sinigang by adding bagoong and spinach, while Love made bangus sinigang with strawberries and pechay Baguio.

As Chef Jose explains: "Sinigang is a versatile dish na kahit ano, puwede mong ihalo para maging mas masarap."

For Chef Jose's pork sinigang with bagoong, you'll need pork, onion, bagoong, tomato, gabi, okra, eggplant, labanos, hugas-bigas (rice water), sampaloc and spinach.

He started by sauteeing tomatoes and onions into a large pan. He then added the bagoong, followed by liempo cuts and hugas-bigas. He let it boil before adding his veggies, which include gabi, okra, eggplant, labanos and spinach.

Another tip from Chef Jose was to crush the sampaloc and let it sit in water before adding it to the shoup.

As for Love's bangus sinigang, she gathered some strawberries, kamias, pechay baguio, pechay, okra, sitaw, onion, radish, sili and patis.
