Bacolod City earned the moniker “The City of Smiles” in the '80s in an effort to cope from back-to-back devastations: the failing sugar trade and the maritime tragedy MV Don Juan.

Despite these incidents, Bacolodnons fought hard to rebuild their lives and move forward. Today, the people of Bacolod have more to smile about.

Their exceptional food has become something to travel for. There are the go-to classics revered by the mommas and the poppas and lolo and the lolas, but also, there are a lot of new eats to enjoy!
