Your love for spicy food can be the cause of your hyperacidity, doctor says

The feeling of "sinisikmura" or stomach ache can actually be caused by the food you love eating.

In a Pinoy MD episode on Saturday, oncologist Dr. Isaac David Ampil II said that constant stomachaches can be because of hyperacidity.

He said, "Nagi-increase ang ating acid sa ating sikmura, nagka-cause ng pain."

This is what we usually refer to as "sinisikmura," he said. The usual causes of this could be found in eating food with high acid content such as citrus fruits and even spicy food.

Other sources, the doctor said, are alcohol, coffee and even allowing yourself to go hungry most of the time.

Stomach pain can also be because of ulcer where the acid digests the lining of the stomach. But to be sure of the underlying cause of the stomach pain, it is highly suggested to go to see a doctor, Ampil said. — Kaela Malig/LA, GMA News
