In August, news about Popeyes opening in the Philippines spread like wildfire, with the Kuya J’s Restaurant Group confirming it was bringing in the New Orleans restaurant.
“The Philippines is a large and growing market and we are looking forward to servicing the high-quality food that Popeyes offers to the country’s more than 100 million people,” Lowell L. Yu, chairman of the Kuya J group said.
Popeyes was founded in New Orleans in 1972 and set itself apart from all the fried chicken joints by serving authentic New Orleans-style food, including the beloved spicy fried chicken, fried shrimp, and the oh-so-buttery buttermilk biscuits. — LA, GMA News
