CAN'T REBUILD AT SAME LOCATION

Baguio’s famed Café by the Ruins holds last gathering on Thursday

Well, that's sad.

Baguio’s beloved Café by the Ruins has decided it will no longer rebuild in the location where fire struck in April this year.

On its Facebook page, the restaurant informed its followers of the sad news. “We’ll be holding our last gathering in the embrace of these Ruins. We’ve decided that we can no longer rebuild at this location. It’s been a wonderful journey with you all. Thank you so much,” part of the message read.

At around noon on April 30, 2017 a corner of the restaurant’s thatched roof caught fire. While there were already diners enjoying Ruins’ famed fare, nobody was hurt.

“I’m stunned,” Adelaida Lim, one of Ruins’ founders, told GMA News Online then. “I feel like I lost my life’s work.”

The café had been closed indefinitely since the fire struck, as owners took stock of the damage, deciding whether to rebuild again.

While it sure is sad, thank heavens Cafe Dua is still around.
