Venture Capital Café mixes work and play

Have you ever wanted a place where you could chill and remember the good old days when anime and gaming were just sensational things to watch and experience?

That’s pretty much the thrust behind this new café located at the heart of Makati City—one that isn’t shy about daring to be different and bringing back your childhood memories.

Holding its grand opening on May 9, Venture Capital Café—VC Café for short—is a unique blend of nostalgia and contemporary popular culture that should suit any visitor who chances upon its warm premises.

Setting up shop in the Don Chua Lamko Building on the intersection of Leviste and H.V. Dela Costa, the cafe is a comfortable and lively place. I got to gush over the sweet selections of food, pastries, and drinks on the menu – which includes luscious choices like a Kiwi Yogurt Smoothie, Nachos Cheese Stake, and even Waffle Fruit Pancakes for the dessert craver in you!

"Our vision is to cater to creativity and to creative people—making a place for those who like to sit around and remember their childhood shows while relaxing in our unique café," said marketing supervisor Anne Myers.

Indeed, posters of fan favorite anime shows like Dragon Ball Z, Slam Dunk, and Voltes V decorate the walls of Venture Capital Café, and there are lots of outlets for laptop users. The biggest surprise was one area with a large HDTV with a Playstation 4 hooked up to allow customers to play at their leisure.

At the same time, the cafe is also a good place for business, with a function room and equipment for meetings and seminars.

The author gives VC Cafe a thumbs up.

With a human-sized Gundam statue standing at its front doors and lots of toys, paintings, and a luscious 80’s flavor and ambiance, VC Café isn’t just a simple café at the heart of the metro—it’s a great place to chill and relax in when you want to escape from the confines of daily life and routine. — BM, GMA News
