Tim Hortons opens first branch in PHL with Miss Canada Siera Bearchell

Iconic Canadian café and bake shop Tim Hortons on Friday opened its first branch in Southeast Asia, with the help of no less than Miss Universe Canada 2016 Siera Bearchell.

Founded in 1964 by legendary hockey player Tim Horton, the brand is synonymous with coffee in Canada.

"In Canada, we don't say 'Let's have coffee,' we say, 'Let's have Tims,'" Bearchell explained during the launch.

Her personal favorites from the shop? The signature "Double Double" coffee, which has two creams and two sugars, and sour cream doughnuts.

Pumping up the staff and the press in attendance at the launch was Elias Diaz Sese, President of Tim Hortons. In a brief speech, Sese said that they chose the Philippines as their first branch in Asia because of the Filipinos' passion for coffee, as well as their commitment to great service—something the brand seeks to provide.

"We look forward to being part of the Manila community, where guests can enjoy our one-of-a-kind coffee and fresh food," he added.

Bearchell flew back to the country nearly a month after competing in the 65th Miss Universe pageant as a special guest of the launch of Tim Hortons at Uptown Mall, Bonifacio Global City.
