8,000 cans of sardines for Zamboanga City boodle fight
Eight thousand cans of sardines were opened for the "Wow Sardinas" boodle fight in Zamboanga City to emphasize the city's position as the Philippines' sardines capital, Unang Balita reported Wednesday.
According to the report, eight companies contributed the cans of sardines, which were lined up on tables at the Paseo del Mar. The event started at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, treating thousands of festival attendees to an early dinner.
According to a post on Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco's Facebook page, the boodle fight was also part of the festivities for the Sardine Festival, a component of the city's larger and ongoing Hermosa Festival.
