Carrot pan de sal a hit in Pangasinan

What started out as a school project is turning out to be a popular—and healthy—food item in San Carlos City in Pangasinan.

A bakery along Mabini Street there is becoming known for its carrot pan de sal, GMA Dagupan's Mike Sabado reported on Primera Balita.

"Nilalaga namin ang carrot. 'Yan ang pinaka-umpisa namin, then ... blender namin and 'yan ang nilalagay namin sa arina," said owner Marivic Mangaliag.

She said the pan de sal started out as a project in a school competition. She said she did not expect it to evolve into a business.

Mangaliag said the product has health benefits such as lycopene, fiber, and beta carotene.

But for customers like laborer Arnie Dagon, there is only one reason to like the product. "Babalik-balikan ng customer 'yan. Masarap siya," he said. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
