Chef reveals Pope Francis has a sweet tooth
The chef who cooked for Pope Francis at the Apostolic Nunciature revealed that the pontiff has a sweet tooth and always finishes the meals served to him.
Chef Jessie Sincioco said the Pope finished the flambéed mango with ice cream she prepared last Friday, according to a GMA News' "24 Oras" report on Monday.
She also served the pope roast beef, herb dumplings, sea bass and soufflé on Sunday night.
According to Sincioco, the presentation of the meals was simple, as the pontiff requested.
"It was a five-course menu, but then we narrowed it down to three because he said the Holy Father is so simple, he likes simple things, he doesn't like anything too much," she said.
Sincioco said Pope Francis arrived happy from Leyte after celebrating Mass wearing a rain poncho in Tacloban City on Saturday.
"When he came from Tacloban, I felt like I wanted to embrace him... para bang he's so simple and yet parang 'yung ginagawa ko kulang, I wanted to give him more but I have to follow what they want," she said.
For Sincioco, being assigned the pontiff's chef during his trip here was an honor.
"It is the apex of my career... I always check when his plates come out and I can see that he finishes the food, it's a guarantee that he likes it," she said. — Kathryn Mae P. Tubadeza/BM, GMA News
