Iya Villania opened up about the intense birthing story of her fifth child, daughter Anya, in her latest Instagram Reel.
The Kapuso host said this time aroud, childbirth was different from her past four.
On February 2, Iya and her family headed to The Medical City because she was experiencing consistent light contractions every few minutes.
“Turns out it was a false labor—referred to as prodromal labor, which I never experienced in my past pregnancies,” she wrote in her caption. “We were sent home and it was funny to me that it seemed like it was all new to me even if it was already the fifth.”
She said she experienced prodromal labor two to three times throughout the week.
"I’m not sure if my anticipation for labor and delivery was contributing to it. I guess no mom can ever be a pro in pregnancy.”
In the early morning of February 11, she woke up due to contractions again. Not wanting to just be sent home again, she waited for a "more major sign like water breaking or a bloody show.”
She tried sleeping off the contractions and ended up going to the gym. While walking on the treadmill, Iya felt the increasing labor pains, and noticed the intervals were shorter. She and Drew then headed to the hospital.
Upon their arrival, medical personnel found that Iya was already at 6cm dilated.
She was then prepped was brought to the same room where she delivered her kids Primo, Leon, and Alana.
“[I was] instructed by my doctor to still walk around since head was still a little high. I was walking and praying the jitters away when all of a sudden my water broke!” Iya said.
She was then told by the nurse to head to the bed. As seen in Iya’s video, she was "kneeling, breathing my way through each contraction.”
“With everything happening so fast, I found myself birthing Anya in the most natural way that felt right to me.”
In the end, Iya said the childbirth — her second unmedicated childbirth — was "amazing."
“I prayed for a fast and easy delivery, but God can truly do more that you can ever think, ask for or imagine. Thank you, Lord, for your faithfulness,” she said.
She also thanked all the doctors and nurses who were with her, and of course, Drew, “who was recording it as it was unfolding even while having to deal with his own fears.”
“I love you! Ikaw naman, pls,” she added.
Iya and Drew welcomed Anya Love Villania-Arellano on February 11, 2025 at exactly 10:52 a.m.
Anya Love is the longtime couple’s fifth child and second daughter. Iya and Drew announced they were again expecting in September 2024. In November, Iya said the pregnancy was not planned.
In January, Drew and Iya celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary. Aside from Anya, their kids are Primo, Leon, Alana, and Astro.
