Jennylyn Mercado says Dennis Trillo is her first love

First love never dies?

Jennylyn Mercado has shared that her husband, Dennis Trillo, is her first love.

In Aubrey Carampel's interview with DenJen for GMA Integrated News, which aired on "24 Oras" Tuesday, the Kapuso Ultimate Star shared that Dennis is her first love.

Per Jennylyn, she was heartbroken when they first broke up in 2011.

She also said that she didn't think they would ever get back together and didn't expect they would communicate with each other again.

However, Dennis reached out to her first to reconcile, and they got back together in 2014.

"Syempre naman, ganun din 'yung pakiramdam ko," she said about accepting him. "First love ko siya eh, kaya grabe 'yung pain nung nawala siya, ta's tinanggap ko na lang na wala na talaga pero sobrang saya ko nung bumalik siya," she shared.

Dennis, for his part, said that he decided to reach out to Jennylyn when he realized that what they had was special and he may not experience something like that again with someone else.

"Dumating 'yung realization na, 'Uy napaka-special pala 'yung nangyari sa 'min nun and hindi ko alam if mararamdaman ko pa ulit 'yun sa iba,' kaya siguro hinanap ko ulit siya," he said.

"Inisip ko na kailangan ko talagang gumawa ng paraan para may mangyari."

Dennis added that love should overcome problems that arise in relationships, no matter what happens.

"Kailangan hand in hand kayo, kahit ano pang mangyari. Kailangan panindigan mo kapag mahal mo and kailangan pag-ibig lagi 'yung mananalo, 'yung mananaig kahit ano pang problema 'yan," he said.

The couple tied the knot in November 2021.

Jennylyn and Dennis will star in the rom-com film "Everything About My Wife," which is directed by Real Florida and produced by GMA Pictures, CreaZion Studios, and Glimmer Studio.

The movie will open in Philippine cinemas on February 26.
