Alex Gonzaga’s husband Mikee Morada reveals their third miscarriage

Alex Gonzaga and Mikee Morada suffered from their third miscarriage in December.

In Toni Gonzaga’s latest vlog, Mikee said their third pregnancy was unexpected.

“To be honest, kami ni Catherine (Alex), noong nalaman namin na pregnant siya, hindi namin talaga akalain, wala kaming plano,” the Lipa City councilor said on the vlog.

“Ang plano namin, baka posibleng mag-prepare muna ng katawan, IVF, pero naturally pa rin, gusto naming subukan,” he added.

Back in December, when Alex experienced a delay in her menstrual cycle, she immediately took a pregnancy test, which showed a positive result.

The married couple did regular checkups with an OB/GYN soon after they found out they were pregnant, until their third visit, which, unfortunately, showed complications in their pregnancy.

“Doon sa pangatlong lingo, wala na namang laman, blighted ovum ulit,” he said.

“Bumagsak ulit [yung pakiramdam namin], pero mas kaya compared doon sa una kasi nakailan na kami eh,” he added.

Alex and Mikee then opted for a second opinion with a different OB/GYN, which showed a baby with a heartbeat in the ultrasound.

“Pagdating namin sa ultrasound na ‘yun, merong bata sa loob, may baby sa loob,” Mikee said.

“Naiyak ako noong narinig ko 'yung heartbeat,” he added. “First time kong nakarinig ng heartbeat.”

Mikee said the heartbeat they heard came with complications, as the findings showed that it was lower than the average heartbeat range.

“Nalaman namin na mababa ‘yung heartbeat, 65 lang, so that same day, pumunta kami sa hospital, tinry naming habulin, baka ma-save pa 'yung baby, ginawa naming lahat,” he said.

It took several days before they got a final confirmation in late December.

“Noong December 28, hindi ko makakalimutan ‘yun. Nakita na namin agad ‘yung embryo, pero wala na siyang heartbeat,” Mikee recalled.

This marked the couple’s third miscarriage, following the first one in 2021 and another in 2023.

Nevertheless, Mikee said these painful experiences only strengthened their relationship as a couple.

“At the end of the day, kahit anong mangyayari, biyayaan man tayo o hindi, kahit tayong dalawa lang magkasama, okay lang,” he said, addressing Alex.

Alex and Mikee got engaged in January 2020. They got married in November 2021 and went to Amanpulo, Palawan, for their honeymoon.
