'Asawa Ng Asawa Ko' stars Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Rayver Cruz weigh in on cheating
"Asawa Ng Asawa Ko" stars Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Rayver Cruz guested on Friday's episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" where they gave their thoughts on cheating in a relationship and second chances.
For Jasmine, she defined cheating as "emotional or physical investment in another person."
Rayver, on the other hand, shared that cheating happens when one is not contented in their relationship so they look for what is lacking through another person. A person who cheats is the kind who does not have the courage to tell their partner what they've done when they are caught.
Jasmine also noted that cheating means one isn't really committed to give and invest in the partner they chose.
"Meron ka pa palang 'yung sobra na 'yun na kaya mo pang ibigay sa iba or dun dapat sa napili mo na. Kahit boyfriend status pa lang, kung papunta na rin kayo, dapat dun mo i-invest 'yun eh, 'yung time na magkausap kayo, lahat ng problema mo," she said.
She added that one should also leave something for themselves when it comes to love instead of giving everything to their partner.
"Binibigay mo sa iba, so ibig sabihin hindi mo rin kaya umupo with yourself with what you're feeling kung ano 'yung kulang sa'yo, ano 'yung kailangan mong i-fill na void sa sarili mo kasi hinahanap mo pang may ibang mag-fill ng void na 'yun sa 'yo, may ibang mag-balik ng investment na 'yun sa 'yo, imbes na sarili mo 'yung mag-invest doon."
Rayver, on the other hand, feels differently, as he told Tito Boy that he gives his all when he's in love.
For the actor, giving and risking everything is part of the beauty of love.
"You learn from that naman eh kapag nangyari 'yun. For me, hirap din ako turuan sarili ko na kailangan magtira ng ganyan. Pagka love ko 'yung isang tao, buong-buo," he said.
This is why, for him, one shouldn't take commitment lightly, adding that when he gets in a relationship with someone, he believes that they would stay together until they are old.
He also shared that he does not believe in second chances when a partner cheats. He noted, however, that it's a different story when one is married and has kids.
"Mahirap mag second chance kasi parang sacred kasi 'yan for me eh, kumbaga kaya importante rin sa 'kin 'yung nag-uusap talaga, na honest tayo."
He added that it's better for a partner to tell him their relationship will not work or they're falling for somebody else instead of him discovering the betrayal.
Jasmine, on the other hand, shared that as someone whose parents separated, a part of her always hoped for a second chance for her parents to get back together.
She also said that she is the kind of person who would probably give a second chance.
"Hindi ko alam kung bilang girlfriend or as a wife if this happened to me, I could process it. But I would like to try, I think I'm the type of person who would like to try a second chance."
Jasmine and Rayver currently star in "Asawa Ng Asawa Ko" on GMA Prime. It airs Monday to Thursday at 9:35 p.m. The series is set to mark its first anniversary this January 2025.
Rayver is currently in a relationship with Asia's Limitless Star Julie Anne San Jose, while Jasmine is in a long-term relationship with Jeff Ortega.
