Nadine Samonte says she was once told she can't have children
Nadine Samonte still turns emotional when she looks back at her past pregnancies.
In an episode of “Lutong Bahay” hosted by Mikee Quintos, Nadine was asked about whether she had easy pregnancies, and she was quick to answer, “No.”
Nadine’s husband, Richard Chua, said that she struggles with Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome or APAS, which is an autoimmune disorder that occurs when the body’s immune system makes abnormal antibodies that attack and damage tissues or cells.
The actress also has Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS, a hormonal syndrome that can cause pregnancy complications like miscarriage or premature birth.
Because of this, the couple had to go to a special doctor wherein they got a lot of Richard’s blood to inject into Nadine for her body to be aware of the new blood.
“Alam mo ‘yung sabi ng doctor sa ‘kin, hinding hindi ko makakalimutan ‘yun. Sabi niya, ‘you cannot have a child,’” Nadine said.
The “Forever Young” actress said this was difficult for her to accept as she always wanted to be a mom and have a family.
“Can you imagine kung gano nun para sa isang babae na parang, all you want is to have a family? It’s my dream,” Nadine said.
“Iyak ako nang iyak nun,” she added. “I was so depressed.”
A doctor also told the couple to try surrogacy.
However, the couple were eventually able to have their three children by natural means. Nadine said they are, “all blessings. Thank you, Lord.”
