Sylvia Sanchez says she’s ‘blessed’ to have Maine Mendoza, Zanjoe Marudo as in-laws

Sylvia Sanchez has nothing but kind words for her daughter-in-law, Maine Mendoza, and son-in-law, Zanjoe Marudo.

On Friday’s episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Sylvia said that she had always known that she would be a good mother-in-law because “napakabuti sa akin ng mga biyenan ko eh.”

“‘Yung ginawa nila sa ‘kin, ‘yun din ‘yung gusto kong ipakita sa mga inlaws ko,” she said.

Sylvia said that she greatly loves Maine and Zanjoe.

“Si Maine, pagdating sa bahay, hindi siya si Maine Mendoza,” she said. “Alam natin kung gaano kasikat si Maine, pero ‘pag once dumating sa bahay, tanggal ‘yung pagiging Maine niya. Normal. And dun ko nakita kasi sinasabi nilang suplada, Kuya Boy, nami-misinterpret si Maine.”

She described Maine as someone very shy, recalling that when she was first introduced by Arjo, it took her 15 minutes to enter the house because she was so shy and didn’t know what to do.

“Ako na sumalubong, ‘Hi Maine!’ Niyakap ko na. Kuya Boy, sobrang lamig,” she said.

She added that Maine is someone generous and always grateful.

“So minahal ko si Maine. Nakita ko kung sino talaga si Maine Mendoza,” she said.

Describing Zanjoe, Sylvia said, “Iba kasi ‘yung babae, Kuya Boy, sa lalaki. ‘Yung lalaki ‘yung nag-a-approach, ‘yung kukunin ka talaga.”

She added that she had always liked Zanjoe from the very beginning.

“Mabait kasi, Kuya Boy. Kasama ko kasi ‘yan,” she said.

Sylvia considers herself “blessed” to have both Maine and Zanjoe in their family.

“Swerte ako bilang mother-in-law dahil meron akong Maine Mendoza na daughter-in-law at Zanjoe Marudo na son-in-law."

Maine married Sylvia’s son, Arjo Atayde, in July 2023.

They started dating in 2019 and announced their engagement in 2022.

Meanwhile, Zanjoe is married to Ria Atayde.

Zanjoe confirmed their relationship in January 2023, after sparking dating speculations in August 2022, when they were spotted dining with some friends in New York.
