Jesi Corcuera on pregnancy journey as a transman: 'Hindi siya biro'

Jesi Corcuera openly talked about the struggles of his pregnancy journey on "Unang Hirit" on Friday.

The StarStruck alumnus and transman said that the decision and the process "took time," and that it took a toll on him.

"Hindi siya biro," he said. "Financially, emotionally, mentally, lahat po talaga."

"Mas malala pa siya sa rollercoaster," he added.

Jesi had to stop taking hormones to allow his estrogen levels to rise higher than his testosterone. This change greatly affected his emotions.

"Maraming changes," he said. "Believe ako sa partner ko kasi siya 'yung sumalo. Lalo na ngayong buntis ako, lagi niya sinasabi, 'Hormones mo 'yan.'"

"Di ko masyado naiintidihan kasi first time ko," he added.

Even before he conceived, it was already a struggle for Jesi.

He said the mere decision to push through was "sobrang hirap na."

Moreover, getting pregnant took three years.

"Marami akong paghahandang ginawa."

In an earlier interview on "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," Jesi said he conceived his child via artificial insemination, a process that involves placing especially prepared sperm directly into the uterus during ovulation.

It took four tries before he successfully conceived a child, he added.

Jesi and his partner Camille are expecting a baby girl, whom they have nicknamed "ninja" for the time being.

Jesi was part of "StarStruck: The Next Level" which aired on GMA Network in 2006. His batchmates include Kris Bernal, Aljur Abrenica, Paulo Avelino, and Chariz Solomon, among others. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
