Lovi Poe on losing manager Leo Dominguez, Mother Lily Monteverde: ‘Life is just fleeting’

Lovi Poe lost her manager, Leo Dominguez, and Regal Entertainment matriarch, Mother Lily Monteverde, in just less than three months this 2024.

On Wednesday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Lovi opened up about this difficult experience in her life.

According to Lovi, Leo was a father figure in her life. Her upcoming film, “Guilty Pleasure,” will also be her first movie that he won’t get to see.

She recalled how Leo was “practically begging” her to fly back to the Philippines from Los Angeles to film the project.

“I’m so happy I flew back home because I got to see him. I didn’t know that this was gonna be the last project I have with him. Sabi ko, you just don’t know talaga. Life is just fleeting,” she said.

Lovi shared that her last message for him was about how happy she was that she did the project; however, she’s not sure if he got to read it because he might have already been in the hospital during that time.

She also said that it’s important for people to pay respect and tribute to their managers.

“Because without that one person who believed in you, we won’t be here,” she said.

“Guilty Pleasure” is also one of the last films Mother Lily greenlit.

“This is one of the last films na talagang in-approve niya. And she was like, really excited about,” Lovi said.

“I’m very sad that she won’t get to watch it, but then, you know, we dedicate this to her as well,” she added.

“Guilty Pleasure," directed by Connie Macatuno, is coming to cinemas on October 16.

It also stars JM De Guzman and Jameson Blake.

Per Lovi, the film is about a lawyer who is torn between her responsibility as a lawyer and her integrity.

Among Lovi’s other recent projects include Hollywood films “The Chelsea Cowboy” and “Bad Man.”

In March, she was also cast in a new film alongside Canadian actor Adam Beach. The film will be helmed by Garry A. Brown, known for his work on "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Prison Break."
