Alexie Brooks mourns the passing of her lola

Alexie Brooks is mourning the death of her grandmother, Lola Basing.

On Instagram, the Miss Eco International Philippines 2025 posted a black and white photo of her with her beloved lola, who raised her while her mom worked as an OFW in Lebanon.

"Today, I lost the person I loved more than anything, and the pain is unbearable. I’m at a loss for words. Lola, I loved you with everything I had, and now I feel completely shattered and unable to move on. I am heartbroken. God please," she said.

In another post, Alexie shared an emotional handwritten letter she wrote for her lola.

"I wrote this when I was next to you last month during my visit home. My hands were shaking, my heart was breaking, and tears were falling from my eyes as I writing," she said.

"I know in my heart that you were never mine to keep. I spent the whole night staring at you, my heart deeply yearning and begging God not to take you away from me," she added.

Alexie said she did not know it would be the final letter she would write for her grandmother.

"I am hurt, grieving, and crying; I lost the only person I have ever loved so truly and wholeheartedly. You are my mother, my father, my bestfriend, my mentor, my master teacher, my greatest love. God knows how much I love you and how shattered and broken I am," she said.

In the comments section, Alexie's fellow beauty queens sent their condolences for her loss.

"Condolence Alexie and my prayers will be for you and lola," said Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Chelsea Manalo.

Earlier this year, Alexie went viral when she was photographed hugging and kissing her lola after getting crowned Miss Iloilo. She later competed in Miss Universe Philippines 2024 and was named Miss Eco International Philippines after finishing in the Top 10.
