Ruffa Gutierrez pays tribute to late sister-in-law Alexa: 'Your beautiful soul will never be forgotten'

A month has passed since Ruffa Gutierrez's sister-in-law, Alexa Uichico Gutierrez, passed away from leukemia.

On Instagram, Ruffa marked the first month of Alexa's passing by paying tribute to her. In her post, she shared photos of their family during happier times along with a heartfelt letter for Alexa.

"Dearest Alexa. How are you up there? Are you okay? It’s been a month since you’ve left us. It’s still difficult to process and accept," said Ruffa.

The actress and former beauty queen shared how she would sometimes find herself on the verge of tears or actually weeping when it dawns on her that Alexa is never coming back.

"We won’t be able to hug, laugh, make chika or plan upcoming family trips anymore," she said. "What gives me comfort and strength during these trying times is knowing that you are in His divine presence and are watching over all of us."

Still addressing Alexa, Ruffa said that their family honors her memory and the joy she brought them, all while they try to go through life without her.

"Your beautiful soul will never be forgotten. Rest in paradise, sestra," she said.

At the end of her post, Ruffa thanked all the people who reached out to their family and offered their support during this difficult time: "Words can never explain how much this means to our family."

Alexa passed away on July 27 at the age of 38 after a battle with leukemia, with Ruffa announcing the news on her social media account.

Alexa is the late wife of Ruffa's younger brother, Elvis Gutierrez. Former schoolmates, Alexa and Elvis tied the knot in 2015 after being a couple for years.

She is survived by her husband and their two young daughters.
