Ryan Bang shares details of surprise proposal to Paola Huyong

Ryan Bang went all out in making his proposal to Paola Huyong a sweet and memorable one.

He shared details of the important life occasion in a vlog titled, “Finally Revealing My Surprise Proposal,” where Ryan said he wanted to propose to his girlfriend on their first anniversary.

The “It’s Showtime” host planned for it to happen at Paola’s café in Quezon City, at the same time as the birthday party of her older brother, Paolo.

Hours before the proposal, Ryan was clearly nervous. “Nagmaga ‘yung mata ko. Kanina pa ko iyak nang iyak,” he said

To distract Paola, Ryan decided to shoot a fake vlog of a tour of the café.

After the tour, the birthday party took place. Guests played some party games, a birthday video by the family was shown. And then Ryan's surprise anniversary video played right after.

It showed moments from when they first met in May 2023, some photos from their first dates, the time Ryan asked Paola to be his girlfriend, and new memories they created as a couple.

Ryan then gave Paola a letter, just a short but sweet anniversary greeting, and tickets to a Dua Lipa concert.

During the afterparty, Ryan had Paolo and Paola shoot an outro for his supposed vlog. While Paola was speaking to the camera, Ryan got down on one knee behind her.

When Paola faced him, Ryan said, “Hi Pao. Nung nagkakilala tayo, nagkaroon ako ng meaning sa buhay ko.”

He acknowledged the ups and downs of their relationship — and of life — and said "I can’t live my life without you anymore, Mi Amor."

As Paola turned emotional, Ryan popped the question: “Paola, will you marry me?”

With a smile, Paolo said, “Of course!” 

By this time, there was no dry eye in the room. Ryan and Paola shared a hug. He gave her a bouquet of roses with a dedication that read, “Thank you for saying yes. Can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”

Ryan and Paola’s loved ones then celebrated with champagne. They also put a marker on the floor where Ryan proposed and put love locks at the café.

Ryan video-called his dad, whom Paola called, “my future father-in-law.” She said, “Thank you po for raising Ryan.”

Right after, he called Vice Ganda, who shared her congratulations and cried right away. “Thank you very much for loving my son. Maraming salamat po sa pagmamahal sa Ryan ko,” Vice told Paola’s parents. “Habang buhay ako magpapasalamat sa inyo.”

Ryan went public with his relationship with Paola in 2023. He called her “The One” and “my forever Filipina.”

In June, Paola’s family met Ryan’s parents in South Korea. Later that month, they announced their engagement.

In an episode of "It's Showtime" post-engagement, Vice Ganda turned emotional as she revealed being first to know about Ryan's engagement.

“It’s Showtime” made an epic debut on GMA-7 last April. The noontime show is also airing on GMA Network’s GTV.
