Alexa Gutierrez passes away

Alexandra Joelle "Alexa" Uichico Gutierrez passed away on Saturday, July 27, after a battle with leukemia, her family announced Sunday.

Her sister-in-law, actress Ruffa Gutierrez, posted the news on her social media account.

"I am still trying to process and accept that you are no longer with us," Ruffa said, adding a broken heart and crying emojis to her post. "It’s so hard… Words cannot express how heartbroken and shocked I am. I love you so much my beautiful, irreplaceable Alexa. You will forever be in my thoughts and in my heart. Until we cross paths again…"

Alexa was married to Ruffa's brother Elvis. Former schoolmates, they wed in 2015 after being a couple for years and have two young daughters.

Elvis posted a photo of him and his wife, with a white heart as a caption.

Alexa was 38.
