Andi Eigenmann remembers Jaclyn Jose as she sets up daughter Lilo's birthday party

Andi Eigenmann looked back on the childhood birthday parties thrown by her mom, the late Jaclyn Jose, when she recently set up a birthday party for Lilo.

Lilo just turned five, and the Happy Islanders had a simple celebration with her friends. They served her favorite food, and held fun activities.

On Instagram, Andi said that preparing for Lilo’s party “reminded me of Nanay, as it dawned on me that every birthday party I had growing up, was literally DIYed by her.”

According to the actress and content creator, her parties were held in their home just with her family, cousins, and best friends.

“She would curate the theme, have activities prepared, and we would always have her famous birthday spaghetti along with other equally tasty dishes,” Andi said.

“Back then I didn't think anything of it. They weren't anything grand, no cool acts or fancy giveaways, like at the ones we would get invited to. But now, looking back, I realise how lucky I was to have a nanay as punong abala as she was, who, in her own way, always made sure I had a birthday to remember,” she added.

Andi said that she didn’t mind not getting expensive gifts and other material things at her birthday parties.

“Each birthday I spent with my friends, laughing our butts off, pulling all-nighters fueled by our sugar highs, was a core memory for sure. And this is all thanks to her,” Andi said.

“I will always have a vivid picture of her mischievous smile as she takes a peep in my room to check up on us. The look of ‘ayayay! But go ahead and ransack the house anyways,’” she added.

Now, Andi said that she is taking pride in following Jaclyn’s footsteps as she does the same for her kids.

“Birthday spaghetti included, of course!”

Jaclyn, born Mary Jane Guck, died on March 2 at 60 years old. Andi revealed in a press conference that she died due to a heart attack.

The Eigenmann family, celebrities, and industry colleagues are mourning the award-winning actress and have paid tribute to her on social media. Andi wrote several poems in honor of her mom.

Andi is engaged to pro-surfer Philmar Alipayo and they have two kids: Lilo and Koa.

She also has a 12-year-old daughter named Ellie with her ex-partner Jake Ejercito.
