Gladys Reyes, Christopher Roxas share their take on common marriage advice
It has been 31 years since Gladys Reyes and Christopher Roxas became a couple and 20 years since they officially tied the knot.
On Wednesday, they graced the episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," sharing their opinions on some marriage advice commonly given to couples.
When it comes to resolving fights, they said that they prefer addressing the problem once they are ready to talk instead of the usual advice of resolving them before going to bed.
"Mas maigi na palamig kayo, pareho niyong maintindihan kung ano 'yung dapat pag-usapan," Christopher said.
"Kung hindi naman n'yo paghihiwalayan pa eh itulog mo na lang. Sayang 'yung [tulog]," he added.
On couples having access to each other's personal phones, they said that they trust each other so much that they don't need to check their phones.
"'Pag mas nag-mature na kayo dun sa relationship, nandoon na talaga 'yung tiwala," Gladys said.
She also disagreed that it should always be the man to make the first move when it comes to sexy time, admitting that she does the same sometimes and that it's OK.
"Siyempre nung una, nahihiya-hiya ka pa, antay-antay ka lang. Naku, hindi! Siyempre, 31 years na, ako na rin minsan!" Gladys said.
"'Yung intimacy, Tito Boy, napakaimportante sa pagsasama ng isang mag-asawa," she continued.
Meanwhile, when it comes to money matters, the couple said that Gladys was the one who handled their finances back then.
"Ngayon, marunong na siya," Gladys said.
"Natuto na ako," Christopher said. "Kasi may mga gastos ngayon na 'pag kinuha ko sa kaniya, naga-argue pa kami."
And finally, on disciplining their kids, Gladys said that she appears to be playing the "bad cop" role in their family, instead of the usual advice that it must be the dad.
"Ako na lang 'yung nag-e-explain na 'Oh, si mommy n'yo ganyan,'" Christopher said.
Gladys and Christopher started dating as teenagers in 1993 on the set of their TV drama series "Mara Clara."
They celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in January.
Gladys recently joined top-rating GMA Afternoon Prime series "Abot-Kamay Na Pangarap," which has been on air for almost two years now.
It stars Jillian Ward, Carmina Villarroel, Richard Yap, and more.
