Carla Abellana in favor of divorce in PH: 'Marriage isn't easy'
Carla Abellana is among the Filipinos who are hoping that divorce will finally get legalized in the Philippines.
In Nelson Canlas' report on "24 Oras," Tuesday, the Kapuso actress said that she's a Catholic who is also "very realistic."
"I see the bigger picture, and of course, sa panahon ngayon, iba na eh. Sa nakikita ko, ang daming magbe-benefit because aminin natin marriage isn't easy. It can get toxic," she said.
Carla remembered those who are in abusive relationships.
"Sana mapirmahan na 'yan, ma-finalize na. Because unfortunately nga there are marriages na nagse-stay nga sila for the sake of the children, they stay married dahil wala silang ibang option, pero hindi na healthy for the family, not just for the marriage. So ang dami and you know, I'm sure dapat pakinggan nila 'yung mga citizens, mga Filipinos," she said.
Carla herself also came from a failed marriage.
In 2021, she married Tom Rodriguez, but the following year, Tom announced that they had already divorced. Tom, an American citizen, filed for divorce in the United States.
Following this, Carla said that she doesn't see herself getting married again.
"Nag-iba po eh, nabulabog ang aking concept," she said in an interview on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda."
Carla was also granted a protection order against Tom after she filed with the local courts.
The Kapuso actress is set to star in upcoming murder-mystery series "Widow's War" along with Bea Alonzo.
