Iza Calzado on late mom’s birthday: ‘I wish I was a better friend to you’
Iza Calzado took to social media to wish her late mom, Mary Ann, a happy birthday.
On Instagram, she shared snaps of herself with her daughter, Deia Amihan, holding a portrait of Mary Ann by artist Nestor Abayon Jr.
“Mama, I wish I was a better friend to you. I was too young to understand. Now that I have my own child, I will do my best to be a good mother and friend to Deia and keep your memory alive through the stories of Lola Tisay that I will share with her,” Iza said.
“I miss you and, yes, I love you. Happy Birthday, Mama!” she continued.
Iza got married to her husband, Ben Wintle, in 2018. Iza announced her pregnancy in 2022 on her 40th birthday.
She then announced the birth of her first child in March of last year, saying she gave birth on January 26.
Deia Amihan is named after Iza’s iconic “Encantadia” character.
In April 2023, she finally showed her daughter's face for the first time.
