Nash Aguas and Mika Dela Cruz open up about breakup before wedding

Nash Aguas and Mika Dela Cruz underwent many trials before they had their happy ever after.

In an interview on "Unang Hirit," the couple opened up about their separation, saying that Mika's health challenges and the deaths of both their fathers took a toll on them.

"We came to a breaking point," Mika said.

The couple broke up in August last year, cutting off all communication.

So how did they come to get back together?

Mika revealed that technically, they never went through the motions of getting back together — Nash just came over and proposed one day.

"August 3 [kami] naghiwalay, hindi kami magkausap. Pumunta na lang siya sa bahay bigla nung January 4 tapos nagpropose," she said with a laugh.

Nash explained that he meant to propose right before they broke up, but he didn't feel at peace with the state of their relationship.

"First time I sought His will, sabi ko, Lord, bakit ganun, bakit parang may mali? Pinag-pray ko na, if it's Your will, then Your will be done. Pero if hindi kami para sa isa't isa, sana paadaanin mo na sa kanya, kasi 'di ko kayang makipag-break kasi I love her too much," he said.

"We were a mess, pero 'yung nandoon lang is 'yung pagmamahal namin sa isa't isa," he added.

When they got back together, everything felt different, and Mika said all her trauma had been resolved by that time.

"What happened was really God doing his work sa aming dalawa," Nash said.

Mika said that they are happier now that there's more balance in their relationship.

The newlyweds tied the knot earlier this May.

They confirmed their relationship in 2018 but have been longtime friends, having met when they were nine on the set of horror film "Tiyanak." —JCB, GMA Integrated News
