Danica Sotto breaks silence on Marc Pingris cheating allegations: ‘Napikon lang naman ako'
Danica Sotto has broken her silence on her husband Marc Pingris’ recent cheating allegations.
In a recent interview on the “Updated with Nelson Canlas” podcast, Danica said that although she and Marc want to move on from the issue, she decided to speak up to give clarity.
At the height of the allegations, Danica said she posted a quote about betrayal and loyalty on her Instagram Stories. This was then connected to the cheating rumors surrounding Marc, but Danica clarified that the post was about somebody else.
“I post because I like the quote or sometimes, noong time na iyon, aaminin ko, it was a feeling that I was feeling about someone else, na parang napipikon ako sa isang tao. And that is a person na nangloko sa amin sa negosyo. A person we truly trusted,” she said.
Danica added that they are still going through this major business challenge.
“This tabloid, ang ginawa, kinuha ‘yung quote ko na ‘yun. Sinabi na I'm confirming daw the issue kasi pinapatamaan ko daw si Marc. Pero hindi na ako nagsalita,” she said.
After the post, Danica said that she and Marc talked and agreed that they shouldn’t post quotes because these may be misinterpreted.
“So, parang doon pumasok 'yung communication namin na usap,” she said.
Minsan kasi, sa'yo wala lang ‘yun, you're too friendly or—hindi friendly, accommodating. Diba? ‘Yung parang, oh, ito chika-chika. Ganoon naman mga basketball player e.”
“Ang napikon lang naman ako din dun is parang nakakatawa kasi they really—ang galing magtahi-tahi ng tao ng kuwento...” Danica said.
“Tapos ‘yun lang gagawin ng mga tao, gagawan ng butas, pag didikit-dikitin, tatagpi-tagpiin,” she added, emphasizing that the whole issue was misinterpreted, “nabigyan ng malisya, binigyan ng kulay.”
Danica said that she was not affected by the issue because she had already grown used to rumors, having grown up in the showbiz industry.
“Ang dami pa nga nilang may mga chinismis pa sila before about my dad, (Vic Sotto). May ganito daw na anak na. Oh my gosh, ang sinungaling talaga,” she said.
However, Danica said she only got frustrated when netizens attacked her kids.
“Syempre, napikon ako pag anak mo na ‘yung tinitira. May sasabihin na masama, na very very foul,” she said. “I think 'yung foul doon is parang may mga sinabi na it's the karma of my parents. ‘Yung ganoon.”
Danica added, “Ang rude. Diba na parang, oh yeah, dahil sa mga kasalanan ng mga magulang kaya nagsasabi. Parang gusto kong sabihin, first of all, mali ang statement na ‘yan. And pangalawa, hindi niyo alam ‘yung buong story. Nag-speculate na kayo hindi niyo alam kung anong totoo at hindi.”
Danica again said that she and Marc talked about the issue and “just moved on from it.”
“But anyway, this is the first time din na kinlarify ko about a certain post that grabe, napakababaw nga. It's just an IG Story quote na minis-interpret ng mga tao,” she said.
In March, Marc and actress Kim Rodriguez were rumored to be having an affair, following viral and similar photos of them with staff at a fries stand and at the Sydney Opera House.
Marc shut down the rumors in a statement on social media in the same month.
"Walang katotohanan ang mga lumalabas na balita tungkol sa amin ni Ms. Kim Rodriguez. Walang namamagitan sa aming dalawa gaya ng sinasabi ng ibang tao," he said.
Marc said that all is well between him and his wife, Danica Sotto.
"OK kami ng pamilya ko. Wag na po tayo magpakalat ng mga balita na hindi totoo. Humihingi po kami ng respeto para hindi madamay ang mga anak namin ni Danica. Salamat po at God bless po," he said.
Kim likewise denied the allegations.
Marc and Danica tied the knot in 2007. They have three children: Jean Michael, Anielle Micaela, and Jean-Luc.
