Dingdong Dantes shares Zia's, Sixto's reaction to his work

Dingdong Dantes is among the most successful actors in the Philippines, giving life to various characters, and headlining box-office movies. But during his renewal of contract with GMA Network on Thursday, the Kapuso Primetime King is clearly a family man at heart.

The man of the hour happily talked about his kids Zia and Sixto and how they started to get curious about his work. 

“Nag-umpisa ‘yan dahil dati noong before pandemic, nagtataka sila bakit. ‘San ka pupunta?’ ‘What will you do?’ ‘I’m going to the mountains.’ ‘Why?’” he said in a one-on-one interview with GMA News Online Thursday. 

[It started before the pandemic, they would wonder why. “Where are you going?” “What will you do?” “I’m going to the mountains.” “Why?”]  

The father of two responded to his kids, saying he's "gonna tell stories about animals” which amused them both. Since then, it has been imprinted on their minds that their father’s job is to “tell stories.” 

According to Dingdong, he's already brought Zia and Sixto with him to work, and that they’ve seen him filming “Family Feud.” His kids were also among the audience when his blockbuster film “Rewind” did a theater tour, as well. 

“So, nakita nila na parang, ‘Ah, you also come out in movies.’ So, slowly nauunawaan na nila (They've seenit , they’re starting to understand) what we do because intentionally we wanna show them what we are doing because we are proud of our work. We are proud of our profession,” he said.  

"Family Feud" is Zia and Sixto’s favorite show of his “kasi iyon ‘yung nakikita nila parati (because that’s what they always see)," he said.

As for their mom Marian Rivera, it’s “Darna,” with Dingdong saying that the kids know she played the iconic superhero. 

The Kapuso actor renewed his ties with GMA Network on Thursday and couldn't help but tear up from the congratulatory messages he received from GMA executives. 

"Sa aking mga boss, maraming maraming salamat (to my bosses, thank you so much),” said Dingdong. "Thank you po for those kind words, I truly appreciate them." 

He also expressed appreciation for the relationships he established along the way, particularly with the production crews, the staff on set, and his co-actors, saying that they made every chapter in GMA memorable. 

Before Dingdong became a household name, he starred in his first series under GMA Network in “T.G.I.S.” 

After that, he starred in other Kapuso series, such as “Encantadia,” “Alyas Robinhood,” and “Dyesebel,” to name a few. He also top-billed some award-winning movies, most recently “Rewind,” which is now the country’s highest grossing film of all time.  

He currently hosts "Amazing Earth" and "Family Feud."
