Women no longer have to make the first move on this online dating app
Ten years since the creation of the women-first dating app Bumble, the online dating platform has launched a new feature where women don't have to make the first move to initiate a conversation with their matches.
Since its inception, Bumble has established its premise of giving women more control of their dating lives by flipping traditional gender roles and challenging the antiquated dating rules by letting women make the first move.
Just recently, the app has expanded its "make the first move" requirement with the feature Opening Moves, where women have the option to set a question that their matches can respond to, allowing their connections to message them first.
Women can use one of Bumble's recommended Opening Moves, or craft their own. For non-binary and same-gender connections, either person can set and respond to an Opening Move.
In January, Bumble released its dating trends for 2024, one of which is the rise of Val-Core Dating, which refers to the rise of people valuing engagement on issues that matter to them.
