Elle Villanueva opens up about toxic relationship in the past: ‘Akala ko hindi na ako makakaalis’

Elle Villanueva revealed being in a toxic and traumatic relationship in the past.

Before her relationship with Derrick Monasterio, the "Makilig" actress was in a seven-year relationship that nearly got "physical." She made the revelation in the latest episode of "Updated with Nelson Canlas."

"Very traumatic," Elle told Nelson, adding "It took awhile, parang seven years bago ako nakaalis. Ganu’n kasi ‘di ba ‘pag toxic? Pabalik-balik.”

Elle described her experience in that relationship as a toxic cycle that she had to break.

“Akala ko hindi na ako makakaalis,” she said.

"It's a cycle, and you have to break it," she added.

Now that she's with a better partner, Ellen said Derrick is heaven-sent.

“Ever since nangyari ‘yung past relationship ko na toxic, lagi kong hinihiling kay God na ‘yung next na relationship ko, please, sana siya na,” she said.

“Tapos, biglang dumating si Derrick na unexpected naman,” she added. “Parang sa lahat ng naka-relationship ko, si Derrick ‘yung pinakamabait at pinaka-inaalagaan ako.”

In August last year, Elle and Derrick finally confirmed their relationship, after being in a "no label" arrangement.

The couple currently stars in the GMA Afternoon series, "Makiling."
