Janno Gibbs opens up on last moments with dad Ronaldo Valdez

Janno Gibbs has opened on the final moments he shared with his late dad Ronaldo Valdez.

In a report on PEP.ph, the veteran singer-actor said Ronaldo was still alive when he was found with a gunshot wound inside his room last December 17.

"Matagal pa siyang humihinga, e. Kahit na... malagim talaga 'yung eksena. But I stayed with him," Janno said.

He said Ronaldo was already unresponsive by then.

"'Yung ano lang siya, wala nang consciousness but still breathing," Janno said. "I stayed with him in that state for a good... 10, 15 minutes bago dumating 'yung ambulansya saka pulis."

"Siyempre at that time, wala sa akin dahil kahit malagim 'yung eksena… wala, ang concern ko is habang humihinga pa, mag-gu-goodbye na ako," he added. "Kini-kiss ko na siya."

Janno said he wishes that he was the only one who saw his father in that state, but a video of the scene showing his dad's body leaked online shortly after his death.

"And 'yung video na 'yun, isipin mo… sana, ako na lang ang nakakita, 'di ba? E, paano 'yung ibang pamilya namin na ayaw namang makita 'yun? Isipin mo, magsi-circulate 'yun."

In a press conference on Monday, the Gibbs family sought a public apology from the police for what happened.

The Quezon City Police Department has since apologized for the video leakage. At least five QCPD personnel have been relieved from their posts following the video leak.

Meanwhile, Janno shared their family's plans for Ronaldo's cremains. They will hold a mass on his 40th day, while Janno himself is planning to scatter some of his dad's ashes in Baguio, Ronaldo's favorite place.

Janno has also addressed the criticism his family received for their trip to Japan after Ronaldo's passing.

The singer said the trip was scheduled in advance, but when his daughter suggested to cancel it in light of what happened, Janno said the family needed it.

"Ituloy natin dahil kailangan natin ito para makahinga tayo... sa lahat. Para sa sarili namin, saka makahinga from... from lahat ng mga magtatanong, 'di ba?" he said.

"Kasi nga, ayaw naming umuwi hangga't maaari dahil dun nangyari, e. 'Di ba? Dun nangyari, so hangga't maaari, ayaw naming umuwi."
