Kier Legaspi on relationship with daughter Dani Barretto: 'Bukas 'yung linya ko'

Kier Legaspi has revealed that he’s no longer in communication with Dani Baretto, his daughter with former partner Marjorie Barretto.

In a recent “Updated with Nelson Canlas” podcast episode, the former actor said it’s been a long while since the last time he spoke with Dani, but he mentioned that the 30-year-old content creator reached out to him once.

“Matagal na kaming hindi nakakapag-usap,” Kier told Nelson.

“But in fairness to her, once tumawag siya, nangumusta,” he added. “Ang sabi niya nga sa akin noon parang gusto niyang makilala, kumbaga [makilala ko] ‘yung anak niya, magkita lahat, maayos lahat.”

Kier said that conversation was their last communication, and the reunion never happened.

According to Kier, his lines are always open for Dani should she try to reach out to him again. He also said he used to chase his daughter to keep their connection.

“Naghabol ako,” he said. “Simula noong bata ‘yan, hanggang tumanda ‘yan, nagkaroon na ng anak, ako naghabol.”

“Paano kayo magkikita kung ‘yung hinahabol mo, tumatakbo naman ng papalayo?” he added. “‘Yung hinahanap mo, tago naman nang tago. Diba?”

After all, Kier said, he’ll always be there for Dani and her family.

“Bukas ‘yung linya ko, I'm just here, lalo na nga ‘yung may social media, ‘di ba? So, madali na makipag-communicate, to reach out,” he said.

“Ang magulang, ako, mamahalin ko lang anak ko. Ganun lang kasimple ‘yun. Kahit anong mangyari,” he added.

In 2021, Dani told GMA News Online that her dad, Kier, also has her number and that he could call her anytime.

“My phone is always open, and he is welcome to come to our house anytime to talk about these things and also so he can finally meet his granddaughter,” she said.

Dani tied the knot with Xavi Panlilio in 2019. Five months later, they welcomed their firstborn, Camilla Marguerite.

Earlier this year, Dani impressed netizens when she shared her weight loss journey after giving birth. —Hermes Tunac/JCB, GMA Integrated News
