Michelle Dee reveals not being able to see mom Melanie in El Salvador post-competition
When Michelle Dee landed back in Manila over the weekend, her mom Melanie Marquez welcomed her with the tightest hug.
On "Unang Hirit" Monday, the Miss Universe Philippines 2023 revealed it was their first time to see each other again after the pageant.
"Kaya ganun kahigpit yung yakap namin," she said. "That was the first time I saw her since I was in the Miss Universe stage."
According to Michelle, Melanie wasn't feeling well when she flew to El Salvador to support her daughter.
"Na-trigger yung back injury niya," Michelle explained. But Melanie pushed through knowing her presence there was important to Michelle.
"Mawala na lahat ng manunuod ng live sa 'kin, wag lang nanay ko," the Kapuso beauty queen said.
"Siya kasi yung lucky charm ko."
Despite settling for a Top 10 finish at the Miss Universe pageant, Michelle took home four special awards and won the hearts of pageant fans all over the world.
On "Unang Hirit," Michelle said her goal was to "make the country know I did my best."
She clearly went over and beyond it.
Throngs of Filipinos welcomed Michelle at the airport over the weekend, including her wifey Rhian Ramos.
