5 causes of breakup, according to 'Five Break-Ups and a Romance' director Irene Villamor
The much-awaited film of Alden Richards and Julia Montes titled "Five Break-Ups and a Romance" is set to hit the cinemas starting on Wednesday!
On Monday's episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Julia and Alden were joined by the film director Irene Villamor to further discuss the story of the upcoming film produced by GMA Pictures, Cornerstone Studios, and Myriad Entertainment.
In the episode, Irene revealed the five common causes of breakup tackled in the film.
1. Different priorities in life
The director said the first reason for a breakup is having different priorities in life.
"Meron muna silang kanya-kanyang priorities because they met [when they were much] younger," she said.
"Hindi pa clear 'yung goals or puwede rin na clear masyado 'yung goals na may kanya-kanya muna silang gustong mangyari sa buhay," she added.
2. Social status
The next one is social status.
"Si Lance (Alden) came from a family of doctors, so nakakaangat sa buhay, and then si Justine (Julia), middle class, magkaiba sila ng perspective dahil magkaiba ang upbringing nila," she said.
3. Principles/ideologies in life
The third one is different principles or ideologies in life.
"Kapag mas matanda ka na at mas may naiintindihan ka na through your experiences, nag-iiba ka rin ng prinsipyo sa buhay," the director said.
"You can be conservative in the beginning, then later in life, you can be liberal because of whatever na nangyari sa buhay mo," she added.
4. Current events
Fourth is current events or certain uncontrollable incidents, like the recent pandemic.
"Meron kasing part sa movie na pandemic, so, of course, we all knew what happened sa pandemic, s'yempre 'yung distance ng mga tao, or minsan bigla kayong nakatira sa iisang bubong," Irene said.
"Parang may nadi-discover ka sa bawat isa dahil sa circumstances na nangyayari sa mundo," she added. "Pati 'yung lipunan kasali siya sa relasyon."
5. Time
The fifth and final cause of the breakup in the film is time, as discussed by Julia.
"When reality hits, may mga factor na rin na kailangan na i-priority and then doon na papasok 'yung dapat naiintindihan mo kasi partner na kita," the actress said.
"Doon na rin magsi-sink in na, 'Nasaan na 'yung time nating dalawa?' So, it's really a working effort talaga [on both parties] na gusto niyong i-work out na kahit pareho kayong busy, makahanap kayo ng time [for each other]," she added.
Written and directed by Irene, "Five Break-Ups and a Romance" first made entertainment headlines last April when news broke that Julia and Alden would headline their first film together.
Last month, the movie teased fans with an emotional scene drop, earning millions of social media views.
Alden and Julia got emotional when the trailer for the film was released.
