Food sparks love in Pinoy salo-salo

Food sparks love in Pinoy salo-salo

When was the last time you sat down for a meal with your loved ones? Food has a special way of bringing families closer. When families focus on food and meaningful conversations, eating becomes an experience that goes beyond the dishes on the table.

The very first CDO Family Salo-Salo, dives into the heart of what truly matters – these mealtime moments where we enjoy the flavors of togetherness. "We advocate for bringing families together and enabling them to reconnect with each other through meaningful mealtimes – sa simpleng salo-salo,” said CDO’s VP for Marketing Theresa Chong. In celebration of Family Month last September, CDO invited families to come together at the Ayala Mall Circuit Makati to remind everyone that mealtimes are a cornerstone of family life. Many also tuned in online to be part of the event via the simultaneous livestream broadcasted on CDO’s social pages.

It was a fun-filled day at the first-ever 'CDO Family Salo-Salo. Tara, Kain Tayo!' event held at Ayala Malls Circuit Makati on September 24, 2023.

CDO Family Salo-Salo was filled with delicious CDO dishes, cooking demos, games, and prizes, as well as insightful discussions on family and parenting. Hosted by Karen Bordador, the event was a fitting celebration for Family Month.

The speakers also connected with the audience as they shared parenting challenges and advice. Celebrity mom Dimples Romana and her husband Boyet Ahmee talked about bridging the gap between her and her children. She stressed the importance of family meetings, even if it means hopping on a video call to include her daughter who is away for college. Husband-and-wife broadcasters Julius and Christine Babao discussed how they encourage open communication in their family, making sure their children feel comfortable expressing their feelings and opinions. Digital content creator Ashley Garcia provided a glimpse into the world of today's youth, emphasizing the power of communication and humility in building stronger connections between her and her parents.

“Naniniwala ako [na what] you become later in adult life will depend on your interactions, especially with the family,” Dr. Gail Galang, Child and Family expert, explained. “So, if you want to raise kids who are going to be productive citizens in the future, you really have to start with family togetherness.”

The message was loud and clear: “Tara, Kain Tayo!” isn’t just about eating, but an invitation to share laughter and the joy of being together. In today’s busy world, CDO Family Salo-Salo is a hearty reminder that home-cooked meals taste even better when you're surrounded by the people you love.
