Dennis Trillo on marrying Jennylyn Mercado: 'Alam na naming duon na talaga papunta'
When Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado got back together in 2015, they held on tight until they made it to marriage.
On Friday's “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Dennis looked back on why he and Jennylyn decided to rekindle their love after failing on their first try.
"Mga bata pa kami nun, immature pa yung pag-iisip, yung mag situation namin nuon, hindi pa clear lung mag gusto gamin mangyari," the actor said.
But early on, they knew they were headed to marriage. "Nuon pa lang, tawagan namin sa isa't isa, asawa na. Alam na namin duon na talaga papunta 'to," Dennis said.
"Kailangan lang ng perfect timing para mangyari ang lahat ng 'yon," he added.
The DenJen — or JenDen — couple first got together in 2011 on their second TV show in GMA. "Siguro tumagal lang 'yun ng isang taon and nagkahiwalay din po kami," Dennis recalled.
They reached out to each other after a few years and "tamang-tama naman, pareho kaming walang partners nung time na yon," he said.
“And siguro na-miss namin ‘yung isa’t-isa,” Dennis added.
He likened their love story to the plot of his upcoming series, “Love Before Sunrise.”
“Ito ‘yung second chances na sinasabi ko na nangyayari talaga ‘yun sa totoong buhay,” he said.
Jennylyn and Dennis had been together for seven years when tied the knot in 2021 — shortly after announcing they were engaged and expecting their first child together.
They welcomed their daughter, Dylan, in May 2022.
