Michael V. honors Mike Enriquez with a portrait

Michael V. honored the late Mike Enriquez in his own special way.

The multi-talented artist brought out his drawing skills “to pay tribute to a fellow Kapuso and a pillar of GMA News & Public Affairs, Sir Mike Enriquez.”

Bitoy captioned his detailed portrait with Enriquez’s signature line, “Excuse me po!”

He also shared a story about the broadcaster.

“Although ang first impression ko sa ‘yo e ‘strikto at nakakatakot’, ang naiwang nakatatak sa ‘kin e ‘yung ‘kuwela at lovable’,” Michael V. said.

“Sana nakita ng lahat ‘yung malaking wacky photo mo sa wake dahil ‘yun talaga ang pagkakakilala ng marami sa ‘yo,” he added.

Bitoy ended his post by saying, “Goodbye, Sir Mike. Parang alam na namin kung ano’ng sasabihin ni San Pedro ‘pag nakita ka n’ya sa Pearly Gates.”

Enriquez passed away on August 29 at the age of 71. The GMA Network pillar entered the broadcasting industry in 1969, then became part of the network in 1995. He served as a journalist for 54 years.

Enriquez took a medical leave in December 2021 to undergo a kidney transplant and returned to work in time for the 2022 election coverage.

He is best known for being an anchor on "24 Oras" and "Imbestigador" and the DZBB programs "Super Balita sa Umaga" and "Saksi sa Dobol B."

Fellow "24 Oras" anchors Mel Tiangco and Vicky Morales turned emotional as they reported his death. At his wake, GMA Network Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon gave a eulogy about how much of a good person Mike was. His colleagues in broadcasting also gave touching tributes.

Enriquez’s supporters have also made artworks to pay tribute to him.
