Sef Cadayona just proposed to his girlfriend Taylor Swift-style
“I like shiny things, but I'd marry you with paper rings,” Taylor Swift’s song “Paper Rings” goes.
Well, that's exactly how Sef Cadayona proposed to his girlfriend, Nelan Vivero!
On Instagram, the Kapuso comedian revealed he proposed to his non-showbiz partner using a paper ring he made on Valentine's Day.
He described the moment as "hindi inaasahang pangyayari."
“May iba doon eh.. lahat tama parang lahat ng nararamdaman ko eh inuudyok [na ‘ko] itanong sa 'yo kung pwede ba kitang makasama habang buhay,” Sef wrote on Instagram.
[There was something there. Everything felt right, everything inside me told me to ask you if I could spend my life with you.]
“Kahit hindi magarbo o engrande.. umoo ka,” he added. “Hindi ako makapaniwala na nakuha ko ang matamis mong OO!”
[Even if it's not grand, you said yes. I can't believe I got your sweet yes.]
Sef joked, “Napaka swerte at saya ko nung gabing yun (patugtugin ang PAPER RINGS NI TAYLOR SWIFT) wow Swiftie.”
[I am the happiest and the luckiest that evening. Cue Paper Rings by Taylor Swift. Wow Swiftie.]
After six months of being engaged with a modest paper ring, Sef proposed to Nelan again on August 13. He popped the question at her house and asked permission from her parents.
“Kabang kaba ako! Panay memorya ng linya na sasabihin ko pag nasa harap na kita. Pumunta sa bahay niyo para magpaalam sa magulang mo… masabi ko sa kanila na masaya tayo at gusto ko sana ganun tayo hanggang sa tumanda na tayong dalawa. Na magkasama. Mapalad ako na pumayag sila!” Sef said.
[I was so nervous! I was memorizing the lines I planned to say when you are in front of me. I went to your house to ask your parents' blessing, to tell them we are happy and we want to grow old together. I am lucky they agreed.]
When his partner arrived, Sef was there to ask her again, “Will you marry me?”
Sef posted a video of them hugging as he held the ring’s box. He also posted photos of Nelan wearing both the paper and diamond rings.
“Mahal kita, Nelan!” Sef said.
In a July interview on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," where Sef admitted wanting to quit showbiz, he also briefly spoke about his healthy and loving relationship with a nonshowbiz girl, who works in corporate.
"Feeling ko I'm very fortunate na nakilala ko partner ko," Sef said back then. "She has been my rock. Two years na kaming live-in partners," he added.
"It's been very fun," Sef said.
Sef is a cast member of upcoming GMA drama, "Love Before Sunrise," headlined by Dennis Trillo and Bea Alonzo.
