Yasmien Kurdi turns emotional while talking about mom who has kidney disease
Yasmien Kurdi became emotional after talking about the health condition of her mom, who is battling a kidney disease.
According to Cata Tibayan's report on "24 Oras," Tuesday, Yasmien's mom has been constantly visiting the hospital for her dialysis treatments.
On August 8, the doctors allowed her to return home while they waited for a kidney donor.
"I love my mom so much and mag-isa akong anak, I try to do everything for her because I love her," she said. "It's really hard, I know, lalo na iyong mga nag-aalaga diyan ng mga may kidney problem na parents, talagang sacrifice siya kasi kailangan maglaan ka ng schedules in a week para lang doon dahil lifeline na nila 'yun eh."
Despite this challenge, Yasmien said she draws strength from her husband and daughter.
"Nandito kami for my mom. Pinapadama talaga namin sa kanya na nandito kami, may pamilya sya, na hindi lang siya mag-isa and ayun, happy ako dahil marami kami nandito, marami akong karamay para harapin ko 'to," she said.
"Ang hirap lang makita 'yung mahal mo sa buhay na nagkakaganun ang 'yung nararanasan niya 'yung hirap at hindi ko kaya, parang nadudurog lang talaga 'yung puso ko."
Yasmien is dedicating her upcoming series, "The Missing Husband," to her mother, who worked as an overseas Filipino worker in the Middle East.
She is also hands-on with the series, which includes some scenes shot in the United Arab Emirates, and even helped translate some of the Arabic words.
"I am half-Arab. Malapit sa puso ko dahil growing up in Kuwait, na-experience kong lumaki with my OFW titas and titos," Yasmien said.
Yasmien will be playing the role of Millie, the wife of Rocco Nacino's character, who will lose their life savings after being scammed by a close friend.
Yasmien and Rocco are joined by Jak Roberto, Sophie Albert, Joross Gamboa, Nadine Samonte, Shamaine Buencamino, Michael Flores, Maxine Eigenmann, Cai Cortez, Bryce Eusebio, and Patricia Coma.
Directed by Mark Reyes, "The Missing Husband" will begin airing on GMA Afternoon Prime and Pinoy Hits on August 28, Mondays to Fridays at 4:05 p.m.
