Britney Spears breaks silence on divorce from Sam Ashgari: 'I couldn't take the pain anymore'
Britney Spears has finally spoken up about her separation from Sam Ashgari.
The Princess of Pop confirmed the news on Instagram, saying, "As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together."
"[Six] years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because [it's] honestly nobody’s business !!! But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly," she said.
The singer added that her Instagram may seem perfect but it’s far from her real life, and that she’s “been playing it strong for way too long[.]”
“I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but [for] some reason I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses," she added. "If I wasn’t my dad’s strong soldier, I would be sent away to places to get fixed by doctors !!! But that’s when I needed family the most !!! You’re supposed to be loved unconditionally … not under conditions !!!!”
Britney said she is thankful for the heartwarming messages, and that she "will be as strong as I can and do my best !!! And I’m actually doing pretty damn good !!!”
Britney and Sam got married in 2022, about a year after a judge dissolved a controversial 14-year conservatorship that had barred the singer from handling her own life and finances. This led to fans’ #FreeBritney movement.
Sam filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences,” and the divorce petition says they have been separated since July.
Britney has two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James from her previous marriage with Kevin Federline. She was also married to Jason Alexander for 55 hours.
Her first song in six years is a feature on the Elton John track “Hold Me Closer.” She also collaborated with will.i.am. for a song called “Mind Your Business.”
