Why Ysabel Ortega does not use Lito Lapid's last name
Not everyone knows that Ysabel Ortega is actually the daughter of actor and senator Lito Lapid and actress Michelle Ortega.
In an interview on "Updated with Nelson Canlas," the "Voltes V: Legacy" star shared the personal reason behind her not using her real name, Ysabel Lapid, as her screen name.
"I guess part din of why I'm not as vocal about [who my biological father] is because 'yun nga, I also wanna make a name for myself," she said.
"Sobrang laking bagay sa akin and self-fulfillment ko rin 'yon," she added.
Ysabel said that she also wants to be given a fair chance when she goes on auditions.
"Fair na hindi naman nila kilala 'yung parents ko para hindi rin magkaroon ng ganung judgment na, 'Ah baka nakuha niya yon dahil…' or, 'Baka akala niya makukuha niya 'yon dahil anak siya ni ganito, anak siya ni ganyan,' di ba?" she said.
Ysabel also said on the podcast that she and Lito see each other from time to time, but she is closer to her stepfather, police director Greg Pimentel.
"Pero for now po talaga mas malapit po 'yung relationship ko with Daddy Greg. Pero we're OK," she said.
In "Voltes V: Legacy," Ysabel plays the badass Jamie Robinson. Ysabel said her co-stars have now also become her family.
"Voltes V: Legacy" airs weekdays on GMA Telebabad at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras." The series is also livestreamed on GMA Network's YouTube channel and at GMANetwork.com/KapusoStream.
