Slater Young apologizes for comment saying it's normal for committed men to 'fantasize' about other women

Slater Young has apologized for his comment saying that committed men fantasizing about other women is "normal."

In the SKYPodcast on Monday, Slater and his wife Kryz Uy discussed the issue that saw him under fire from netizens on social media.

The influencer said it's been a hard but eye-opening few days for him as he processed what happened.

"Sometimes you think that you did something OK and it takes a little while for it to sink in na, 'Oo nga no, mali pala talaga ako,'" he said.

"Kasi s'yempre pag merong mga comments and merong mga reactions na parang ina-attack ka your first instinct is to be defensive," he added.

Slater said he read through many comments because he felt like he was in bubble that he could not see what others were seeing.

"And I finally realized na, 'Oh my God, I really made a mistake,' because I'm giving it power na, to say it's OK, and me saying it's normal, kind of normalizes it and makes it OK," he said.

"The last thing in my mind and my heart would be to objectify women."

Slater said he should have set a better example for others, as he realized that his words could be used as a tool to justify objectifying behavior.

"I should've called it out na parang, 'Ah it happens, but this isn't ok, we should hold ourselves to a higher standard.' When sa akin, like, 'Oh it happens, don't worry about it.' 'Yun 'yung sinabi ko," he said.

Slater also said it's a learning experience for them to be mindful of the platform they have and the effect that their words have on their listeners.

"When I read the articles [about the issue], I don't feel angry, I feel ashamed na parang nako-quote ako ng ganyan and parang, 'Ah, this is not me and I wish I could take it back.'"

"I know for a fact that I said that. Like nahiya talaga ako."

Kryz supported her husband through the discussion, acknowledging that he made a mistake while assuring him that she knows he is not what the public thinks he is.

"I'm at peace with that, I know you're a good guy," she said.
